Phony bills shock Baltimore Gas & Electric

Daily Record, The (Baltimore), Sep 13, 2007

The parent company of Baltimore Gas & Electric is threatening to sue Baltimore County's Republican central committee unless it stops mailing mock billing statements that blame the company and Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley for huge increases in electric rates. The mailing, designed to resemble a BGE bill, replaces the account number with "We're paying through the nose," and replaces the company motto with "a company O'Malley thought he understood." Constellation Energy attorneys wrote party Chairman Chris Cavey this week, warning that the mailing infringes on its trademark rights and implies falsely that the company approved the message.

Cavey said the committee has complied with the company's request.
