Sept. 20-21: Sister Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States, which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and became an Oscar-winning movie, will speak at St. Pius X church in Towson on Sept. 20 and at St. John the Evangelist Church in Frederick on Sept. 21. Kirk Bloodsworth, a Marylander who was the first death row inmate cleared by DNA testing in the nation, will join Sister Helen at both events, which start at 7 p.m. Legislation to repeal the death penalty is expected to be introduced again in the 2008 General Assembly session.
