U.S. panel backs AstraZeneca Plc's FluMist for kids
Daily Record, The (Baltimore), Oct 25, 2007
AstraZeneca Plc's FluMist, the nasal spray influenza vaccine, was recommended for children 2 years to 4 years old by a U.S. panel of advisers. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted Tuesday to widen its recommendation for FluMist, which had been recommended for healthy people ages 5 to 49.
Children with asthma, wheezing and other breathing disorders were counseled against using the spray vaccine. British drug maker AstraZeneca inherited FluMist when it acquired the drug's developer, Gaithersburg-based MedImmune Inc., in June.
