Baltimore-based Becker Group's new owner

Viad Corp., of Phoenix, Ariz., a publicly traded provider of convention and event services, exhibit design and construction, and travel and recreation services, announced its acquisition of The Becker Group Ltd., of Baltimore, for $24.3 million in cash. Becker is a niche marketing company that specializes in designing and building seasonal decorations for commercial and retail properties.

Becker also provides year-round branded attractions, sponsored events, mobile marketing tours and other marketing services. Viad, with 5,000 employees, had revenue of $826.3 million and net income of $37 million in 2005.
