Tower plan in Washington County irks National Park Service
Daily Record, The (Baltimore), Mar 28, 2008
The National Park Service is objecting to plans for a 190-foot emergency communications tower next to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. Park officials have asked the Washington County Commissioners to consider alternatives to the tower that the county plans to build in the Sandy Hook area.
The site is adjacent to park service land on the Maryland side of the Potomac River and in view of the main section of the park in Harpers Ferry, W.Va. County Commissioner James Kercheval says the alternatives suggested by the park service would not provide the level of service that emergency responders require.
