Builder's registration suspended by Maryland attorney general

The Maryland attorney general's office said Tuesday that the Home Builder Registration Unit of the Consumer Protection Division has suspended the registration of a home builder, D.A. McDaniels Inc. t/ a McDaniels Homes of Lanham, after accusing the company and its owner of failing to comply with the state's Home Builder Registration Act and Consumer Protection Act and the laws governing deposits on new homes and new home warranties.
According to an announcement, the company and its owner, Derek McDaniels, are alleged to have accepted deposits and payments from at least 13 consumers in Prince George's and Charles counties, but failed to either begin or complete the work or refund deposits. A hearing on the charges is scheduled for Aug. 25.
