BOARDS

The Maryland Women's Heritage Center announced that Frances Hughes Glendening, former first lady of Maryland, has been named president of the board of directors. Glendening currently serves as chief executive officer of Jobs for America's Graduates in Washington, D.C. She is also a senior fellow and adjunct faculty member of the University of Maryland, School of Public Policy, James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership.

HEALTH CARE

Dr. H. Alexander Munitz and Dr. Judy Destouet, board-certified radiologists with Advanced Radiology and members of the GBMC medical staff, were honored for their work in cancer detection by The Mildred Mindell Cancer Foundation at its annual gala. They were named Humanitarian of the Year for their involvement in the Comprehensive Breast Care Center at GBMC where they helped to improve integration between surgery and imaging with real-time biopsy capability. Munitz is chair of the Department of Radiology at GBMC and Destouet is chief of mammography for Advanced Radiology.

MARKETING

gkv announced that Robin Rombro and Jessica Loewe have been promoted to associate media directors. Rombro first joined gkv's media department nearly 12 years ago, and Loewe has been with gkv for 11 years. Rombro oversees broadcast buying for all accounts. Loewe will supervise and oversee all aspects of the media planning process with various types of media.

NONPROFIT

Raphael Langford has been appointed director of development for Baltimore-based nonprofit Associated Black Charities. Prior to joining ABC, Langford was president and chief operating officer of Univec, a publicly traded manufacturer of medical devices and pharmaceuticals. For three years prior, he was executive director of the National Foundation for Women Legislators in Washington, D.C.

Former Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene/ Developmental Disabilities Administration Central Region Director Alexis Melin has been named chief operating officer of Chimes Maryland/Intervals. Before her promotion to COO, Melin joined Chimes as special assistant to the chief financial officer in November 2007. As COO, she will oversee programming, coordination and expansion of services and funding, quality assurance, as well as facility issues.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Alyce Kirk, former principal and owner of Kirk Communications, has joined RTKL as firmwide public relations manager. Former president of SMPS, Kirk has provided public relations strategy and campaigns to the design/build environment for 20 years. Prior to establishing her firm, she worked with Brasher Design as VP business development and public relations.
