Commentary: Tech Talk: RecordMyCalls.com saves, stores your phone

Daily Record, The (Baltimore), May 16, 2008 by Larry Fiorino

One of the popular features of digital communication, such as e- mails, text messages or instant messages, is the ability to have a record or transcription of the conversation. If questions ever arise or the information is forgotten, it is easy to retrieve and reference the conversation record to find what is needed.

New technologies have undoubtedly made communication easier, but the telephone still remains a convenient way to exchange information. However, information provided over the telephone usually exists only in one's memory or scribbled on a piece of scrap paper.

These methods of keeping track of information can cause several problems, ranging from forgetting important details to making false claims to disagreeing over what was discussed.

Consequently, www.RecordMyCalls.com offers a solution to the possible issues that arise from communicating over the telephone by allowing users to record and access the audio file of their conversations.

To use the service, users simply dial a toll-free number from their landline, cell phone or VoIP connection before entering the number they would like to dial. Once connected, the conversation will be recorded.

After the call is completed, the user can visit www.RecordMyCalls.com to retrieve, play back and manage their recordings.

The service is available for a monthly fee, ranging from $4.95 to $9.95. In addition, each minute of airtime costs 15 cents to 20 cents.

RecordMyCalls is a great service for business purposes, whether taking orders or making sales proposals. Likewise, the service can be used to record online learning experiences, such as Webinars and lectures, or in offices that need to track specific client data.

The service provides definite advantages in regard to recording phone calls and eliminating many of the disputes that may arise. But in many states, including Maryland, it is illegal to record a telephone conversation unless all involved parties are informed and agree to the recording.

As a result, it is important to be aware of and comply with laws and regulations before recording a conversation.

As long as you do that, RecordMyCalls can provide users with the functionality that is so valuable in many other digital devices.
