CenterStage, Baltimore's professional resident theater, announced that Debbie Chinn will be its new managing director. Chinn, currently managing director of the California Shakespeare Theater, succeeds Michael Ross, who has headed CenterStage since 2002. Ross announced last fall that he would step down in June.
Chinn will begin transitioning into her new job this summer. She has led the Orinda, Calif., theater company since 2001, and previously headed the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival. In a statement, Chinn said she had not expected to leave California but could not pass up the invitation to be associated with CenterStage.
