DRS Technologies Inc., of Parsippany, N.J., and Smiths Detection, of Edgewood, announced they have signed an agreement to jointly develop and produce the model 4A Chemical/Biological Protective Shelter, a contamination free, environmentally controlled working area that enables medical combat and combat service support personnel to work freely without continuously wearing chemical- biological protective clothing.

The project, which was ordered by the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense, could be worth up to $190 million over its 10-year lifespan.
