I grew up in a rural area and did not have access to a lot of things that other teens did, so I read a lot to learn about things outside of my world.

What or who inspired you growing up?

Pioneer women ... I liked reading about the settlement of the West.

What critical choices or decisions did you make growing up that helped you get to where you are today?

Being willing to try new things, meeting new people and being aware of what is going on in the world. Knowing about current events gives you a huge advantage no matter what career path you choose.

What do you wish you'd known then that you know now about high school?

Get to know the teachers better and instead of rebelling, listen to what they have to say.

Being interested in continually educating myself; staying confident; wanting to keep growing. Money is always an obstacle, but there are always ways to overcome that.
