ACCOUNTING
Ellin & Tucker Chartered announced that David P. Bloch Esq. has joined the firm's Washington office as a principal in the business valuation, forensic, and litigation services group. His experience includes serving as assistant chief litigation counsel in the Securities and Exchange Commission's Division of Enforcement. The firm also has added Fernando C. Commodari to its audit, accounting and consulting department.
Clifton Gunderson has promoted several employees in the firm's Timonium office. Christina Bowman, Aires Coleman, Michael Daniele and Nathalie Griffin-Ames have earned promotions to senior manager. Bowman has been a member of the firm's commercial assurance practice for six years. Coleman is a member of the firm's commercial assurance practice. Daniele has been with the firm for almost nine years. Griffin-Ames specializes in entrepreneurial business services.
ARCHITECTURE
RTKL Associates Inc. has promoted Leonardo R. Gonzalez and Vincent Saturno to associates. Both are electrical engineers in the firm's Baltimore MEP engineering studio. Gonzalez works with architects and mechanical engineers from schematics through construction documentation to ensure the proper coordination of systems. Saturno has design experience in corporate, high-tech, government, health care and mixed-use projects.
AWARDS
TBB Global Logistics, a third-party domestic and international supply chain management company, has been named one of the leading third-party logistics (3PL) and supply chain providers for 2008 by Inbound Logistics, a trade magazine serving the supply chain and logistics industry. The company was selected as an industry leader in the 3PL marketplace among hundreds of submissions. This is the fourth consecutive year that TBB Global Logistics has received this award.
Tanner Company recently recognized Salli J. Ward, personal stylist and president of Wonderful Wardrobes of Owings Mills. Ward was honored for the third year in a row by DONCASTER Extraordinary Apparel for Extraordinary Women for her achievement in sales for the past year. She was recognized for being one of the Top 75 agencies in the nation.
Melissa Bellin, an assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, was recently awarded the 2008 Spina Bifida Association Young Investigator Award. The award provides financial support to a newly independent investigator in an established research program. Bellin's project is a longitudinal study of the experiences, needs and factors associated with transition outcomes in adolescents and young adults with spina bifida.
Howard County's Community Sports Hall of Fame, sponsored by the Department of Recreation and Parks, announced its 2008 inductees: Tony Brudis, Jim Carlan, Don Disney, Karen Dye, Roger Hockey, Helen Moody, and Stanley Nedzel. The seven inductees include game officials, promoters, coaches and program administrators.
BANKING
K Bank announced that Todd Warren has joined as vice president of commercial lending. Warren will be focused on cultivating relationships in the Reisterstown corridor. He has 11 years of sales and banking experience. Warren serves as a board member for several organizations, including the Academy of Finance for Baltimore County schools.
M&T Bank has appointed Charles H. Camp as retail branch manager for its headquarters branch at 25 S. Charles Street in Baltimore. Camp will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the branch, directing sales, business development and marketing and providing personal attention to all new and existing accounts. He comes to M&T with 10 years of financial services experience.
BOARDS
Leadership Howard County has added five new members to its 2008- 2009 board of directors. They are: Christa L. Spalding, vice president, relationship manager, Howard Bank; Ilana Bittner, producer, Pixel Workshop; Robert A. Freedman, president/principal, Corridor Reznick LLC; and Barbara K. Lawson, community representative. The incoming board chair is Paul M. Gleichauf, senior VP-managed care, planning & marketing, Howard County General Hospital.
The American Breast Cancer Foundation announced the appointment of Brenda Loube as chair of the board of directors. Additionally, ABCF has selected Bruce Mueller, executive manager with Dimension Data, and Dawn Cummings, vice president at Wachovia Bank, to join the all-volunteer board of directors. Loube, president and co- founder of Corporate Fitness Works, has served on the board of directors since 2004.
Governor Martin O'Malley recently reappointed Charles E. Kountz Jr. and Linda C. Goldberg to the board of trustees of the Community College of Baltimore County for terms of five years. Kountz was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1970. Goldberg has more than 22 years of experience in the field of human resources.
EDUCATION
University of Maryland University College announced that its president, Dr. Susan C. Aldridge, was appointed to a national commission established by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. The commission will address the role of public universities in a global economy. UMUC is the second-largest university in Maryland, serving 90,000 students.
