Real estate auction to be held in Portland Saturday

Daily Journal of Commerce (Portland, OR), May 17, 2004 by Aimee Curl

Realty Marketing/Northwest will hold its spring oral auction Saturday at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel, 8235 N.E. Airport Way, at noon.

Up for sale are 23 residential, commercial, industrial, timber, farm, recreational and development properties located in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

An additional 55 properties located in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California and British Columbia, are also for sale as part of a sealed bid process. Depending on the property, bids are due June 8, July 15 and 22.

Total value of all properties available is in excess of $25 million.

Held every fall and spring, Realty Marketing/Northwest's auction and call for sealed bids is an umbrella marketing campaign that allows sellers to advertise their property in a catalogue and on the company's Web site. The company has been holding the auctions since 1986.

Realty Marketing/Northwest earns a commission on the sales. The clients pay a fee to put their listing in the advertising materials. The fee varies depending on the property and its price.

The properties for sale are owned by both public and private entities including lenders, corporations, educational institutions and a pubic agency.

Fourteen of the properties will be sold with no minimum bid requirements. These parcels include a lot along the Little Deschutes River and over 2,500 acres of timber and recreational land in Idaho and California for sale by Boise Cascade and other forest product companies.

Other parcels for sale include a manufacturing facility in Dixonville, Ore. and a residential site in Sheridan, Ore. There's also an industrial building in Waldport and a commercial site in Clark County, Wash., offered as part of the auction.

Over 70 percent of the properties offered during Realty Marketing/ Northwest's fall auction have been sold. Company president John Rosenthal said the spring auction has already generated a lot of interest from investors interested in acquiring property from highly motivated sellers.

There continues to be a strong demand for Northwest properties, he said.
