CONSTRUCTION
The Oregon Home Builders Association installed its 2007 officers at the Annual Awards and Installation Banquet. The 2007 officers are: Jim Patrick, Dolphin Construction out of Newport, president; Mike Gansen, Gansen Construction in Eugene, first vice president; Gretchen Palmer, Palmer Homes from Bend, treasurer; Jim Gamble, J. Gamble Construction, secretary; Ernie Platt, Ernest Platt & Associates in Portland, NAHB state representative; Drake Butsch, First American Title Insurance Co. in Portland, immediate past president; and Cary Brennan, Ed-Pat Electric in Klamath, associate vice president.
DESIGN
Stevens Architect LLC is pleased to announce that Mary Louise Vidas has been chosen by the Bend city council to be a member of the Central Area Plan Committee. The committee will advise the city council on downtown planning issues.
Vidas is an intern with Stevens Architect LLC. She has a master's in architecture from the University of Oregon and is LEED accredited. She is active with Bend Area Habitat for Humanity designing several recent Habitat homes. She compiled and edited Green Building Guidelines for Habitat and helped organize an eco- charette for the master plan for future Habitat construction. She is currently enrolled in the Sustainable Building Advisor program.
EDUCATION
Lewis & Clark College has added five new members to its board of trustees: Mark Dorman, Gerald W. Fischer, Jamie Forman, Jon V. Jaqua and Wesley Lawrence.
Dorman, a 1983 graduate, is a managing principal of Endeavour Capital, a Portland-based private equity firm. Dorman earned his bachelor's from Lewis & Clark and his master's in business administration from Harvard Business School.
Fischer, a 1967 graduate, is professor of pediatrics and adviser to the Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellowship Program at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He is also a partner in PanFlu, an organization focused on providing solutions to pandemic preparedness and disaster response. He earned his bachelor's from Lewis & Clark and his medical degree from the University of Oregon Medical School.
Forman, a 1981 graduate, is partner with Rider Bennett in Minneapolis. His focus is business litigation, with an emphasis on cases involving temporary restraining orders, injunctions and other forms of equitable and extraordinary emergency relief. Forman earned his bachelor's degree from Lewis & Clark and his juris doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law.
Jaqua, a 1970 graduate, is the owner and manager of McKenzie Oaks Ranch, a diversified farming operation in the southern Willamette Valley. He is also the owner and partner of Metal Products Co., a metal stamping and fabrication company in Springfield. Jaqua earned his bachelor's in business management from Lewis & Clark.
Lawrence, a 1981 graduate, is the northwest regional president of KeyBank, where he oversees revenue, contribution margin, expense management, and expands the client base in all franchise businesses in KeyBank's four-district northwest region - Alaska, Oregon, Seattle-Cascade and South Puget Sound. Lawrence earned his bachelor's from Lewis & Clark.
The Oregon State University Foundation has hired Jennifer Niedermeyer, Foy Renfro, Stephen Slotemaker and Doug Wright in its Portland office.
Niedermeyer, who holds a bachelor's in philosophy from Georgetown University and a master's in German from the University of Oregon, is director of development for ocean and earth sciences and the Marine Mammal Institute.
Renfro holds a bachelor's in parks, recreation and tourism management from Clemson University and is assistant director of development for the College of Business.
Slotemaker holds a bachelor's and a master's in business administration from Washington State University and is associate director for planned giving.
Wright, who holds an M.B.A. from Bloomsburg University and a second master's in sports administration from Western Illinois University, is the Portland regional director of development for athletics.
ENGINEERING
Harper Houf Peterson Righellis Inc. has promoted Kelly D. Bachelder to associate. She is a civil engineer who has been with HHPR since 1999.
Bachelder provides project management and engineering design services for site development, public street and utility projects.
W&H Pacific is proud to announce that Rick Martin is the recipient of the 2006 Engineer of the Year Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers Oregon section.
Martin, who has been with W&H Pacific since 1989, joined the Spokane Office as the director of land development. He also leads and manages technical staff in the Spokane office across the firms' business lines.
Martin has over 36 years of civil project engineering and management experience on large complex commercial development and redevelopment projects as well as infrastructure planning and design for public and private projects. He received his B.S. in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1968.
FINANCE
Cinna'Mon Williams and Karen Slusarenko, procurement analysts within Metro's procurement division, recently earned the designation of certified professional public buyer (CPPB). Candidates must pass a rigorous written examination after qualifying through their experience and education.
