Washington tax firm buys Portland maker of software

Avalara, a web-hosted sales tax management service based in Bainbridge Island, Wash., announced Wednesday it will buy New Horizons Systems, a supplier of tax software.
No jobs will be lost because of the deal, said Andrea Anderson, a representative for Avalara.
Both Avalara and New Horizons Systems are privately held.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in early 2008.
