Washington tax firm buys Portland maker of software

Daily Journal of Commerce (Portland, OR), Nov 15, 2007 by Nathalie Weinstein

Avalara, a web-hosted sales tax management service based in Bainbridge Island, Wash., announced Wednesday it will buy New Horizons Systems, a supplier of tax software.

No jobs will be lost because of the deal, said Andrea Anderson, a representative for Avalara.

Both Avalara and New Horizons Systems are privately held.

The acquisition is expected to be completed in early 2008.
