Mercy Corps hires public affairs director

Mercy Corps has hired Heather Hanson as director of public affairs.
Hanson has 15 years of outreach experience in international development, civil society strengthening, human rights protection, poverty alleviation and conflict resolution. She spent five years working on development programs in Mexico, Central America and Colombia. Hanson previously worked as executive director of the U.S. Office on Colombia. She has also worked with the International Development Exchange, the Ford Foundation, the Institute of International Studies, the World Bank and the Natural Heritage Institute. She holds a doctorate from the University of California Davis, where she has also taught and lectured.
