Oregon State University's animal hospital expansion nearly complete

Daily Journal of Commerce (Portland, OR), May 2, 2008 by Report

The $12 million expansion of Oregon State University's large- animal hospital and diagnostic imaging center is nearing completion.

A dedication ceremony will be held for the new Lois Bates Acheson Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Large Animal Clinic at 10 a.m. Saturday behind Magruder Hall in Corvallis.

The clinic includes an intensive care unit and isolation facility for cattle, horses and other large animals; a multi-purpose, all- weather arena for assessing lameness; a nuclear medicine suite; teaching and research space; and a new imaging wing.

The expansion was funded by a $5 million gift from the Valley Foundation and by bonds that will be paid off from a $21 million endowment given by Lois Bates Acheson to OSU's College of Veterinary Medicine.

Magruder Hall is located at 30th Street and Washington Way, in Corvallis. The dedication will be followed by a free, public open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
