Portland company helps Texas energy efficiency

Portland-based energy efficiency and environmental solutions company Ecos Consulting has been hired by eight Texas utilities to design and implement a statewide Energy Star residential lighting program.

The Make Your Mark program encourages Texan utility customers to use energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs. The bulbs are offered at a discounted price at participating retailers such as Home Depot and Costco. Beginning July 15, the program is expected to have more than one million 1.5 million of the energy-efficient bulbs in Texan homes by the end of the year. The participating utilities include Oncor, AEP Texas, AEP Southwestern Electric Power Co., Texas- New Mexico Power Co., Entergy, Xcel Energy and El Paso Electric.

Ecos is contracting through Frontier Associates for the Texas project.
