Daily Journal of Commerce (Portland, OR), Aug 21, 2008
Lease Crutcher Lewis broke ground last week on a new ballpark for the University of Oregon. Major construction on the $15-$18 million facility will begin in two weeks. The park will be named for UO's athletic director, Pat Kilkenny, who has provided $4 million to help cover construction costs. The university has raised a total of $11 million from private donors and the university's partnership with IMG for the operations of the program and the construction of PK Park.
The first phase of the project's construction will provide a playing surface and temporary facilities in time for UO's first home game on Feb. 27, 2009. Cameron McCarthy, Gilbert & Sceibe is the lead landscape architecture firm for the project's first phase.
The second phase will take place in May 2009 and includes the permanent stadium structure, which is currently being designed by DLR Group of Portland. The finished stadium will hold 4,000 people and include locker rooms, clubhouses and team amenities, a video board and scoreboard, specially designed lighting structures, fan interaction areas and student seating.
