Roundabout opens in Clackamas County
Daily Journal of Commerce (Portland, OR), Nov 25, 2008 by Report
The first multilane roundabout in Clackamas County opened last week at the intersection of Stafford Road and Borland Road.
The new roundabout was constructed by Clackamas County in order to increase traffic safety and capacity, as well as reduce pollution from idling vehicles. The project, which opened one year ahead of schedule, includes a large central island and a circular roadway on which vehicles must travel counterclockwise and make only right turns. The design of the roundabout causes drivers to use reduced speed, improving safety at the intersection.
