2005 Tax Reassessment Seminar
The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the Joseph C. Sansone Co. and UMB Bank present the 2005 Tax Reassessment Seminar: Its Impact on Your Business and Appropriate Strategies today, Friday, March 18. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the program running from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac, located at 1335 S. Lindbergh Blvd. The cost to attend is $65, which includes continental breakfast and lunch.
Keynote luncheon speaker Sen. President Pro Tem Michael Gibbons will be joined by Bruce Davis, chairman of the Missouri State Tax Commission; Ed Buschmeyer, St. Louis City assessor; Phillip Muehlheausler, St. Louis County assessor; Jeffrey W. Craver of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Joseph C. Sansone and Michael McDonald of the Joseph C. Sansone Co.
Every odd-numbered year, the property values of every taxpayer, both businesses and individuals alike, are reassessed in an effort to keep the values current and representative of actual value. This informative discussion covers the assessment process from every perspective, its possible impact on Missouri businesses and effective strategies for dealing with a reassessment. The seminar will also allow the assessors and the State Tax Commission the opportunity to explain their respective responsibilities, statutory guidelines, limitations, shrinking budget, pressures from taxing entities and pending legislation. Attendance at this seminar promises to be an excellent investment for any business owner or tax manager during this important reassessment year.

Claims Avoidance Dispute Resolution
The St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers will present Claims Avoidance Dispute Resolution on Thursday, March 24, at Westborough Country Club, located on 631 Berry Road, from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m.
This event is directed toward owners, constructors and design professionals to help them manage construction risk and responsibility and avoid litigation in engineering and construction. The issues covered include scopes of work, engineering, partnering, contracts, contract management, documentation, field conditions, change control and communication. Presenting the seminar will be Mike Bante, director of the contract managements group at Jacobs; Don Giegerich, regional manager of the dispute resolution group at URS Construction Services Division; Dennis Seibel, chief of construction at the Army Corps of Engineers; Joe Colagiovanni, a partner at Bryan Cave; and Randy Hayman, general counsel of Metropolitan Sewer District. Mike Neumann of Fru-Con Construction will serve as moderator.

2005 SIOR St. Louis Metro
Market Forecast
The St. Louis chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors will present its 2005 SIOR St. Louis Metro Market Forecast, the largest commercial real estate forecast in St. Louis, providing a professional perspective on the St. Louis commercial real estate market in the areas of office, industrial, retail/specialty and investment, on Thursday, April 7, from 7:15 a.m. until 9 a.m.
Speaking at the event will be SIOR International President Kevin J. Crowley, SIOR, of Iowa Realty; commercial office speaker Glenn B. Guenther, SIOR, of Discovery Group L.L.C.; industrial speaker David M. Zeigler, SIOR, of Lee & Associates; retail/specialty speaker Dennis DeSantis, SIOR, of Cushman & Wakefield of Missouri Inc.; and investment speaker David A. Kelpe, CCIM, SIOR, of Colliers Turley Martin Tucker.

Urban Residential Communities
The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis will present Urban Residential Communities on Tuesday, April 5, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. Richard Baron of McCormack Baron Salazar Inc. will give his perspective on urban mixed-income residential communities from the perspective of his 31 years of developing such properties throughout the country. He will discuss some of his successes and challenges over the years as well as his plans for future developments in St. Louis, such as Chouteau Lake.
The event will be held at the BAMSL Headquarters in the Laclede Gas Building on the 30th floor. The cost is $30 for members, $15 for student members and $40 for nonmembers. Cancellations must be received by at least 24 hours prior to the event to receive a refund, less a $5 administrative fee, or to avoid an invoice.
