Robert Swearingen joins Legal Services of Eastern Missouri

Robert Swearingen has joined Legal Services of Eastern Missouri as a staff attorney in the organization's consumer unit. He was hired under a special grant legal services received from the National Legal Aid & Defender Association.

In his new position, Swearingen will handle cases involving predatory lending practices, deceptive practices, breach of contract, breach of warranty, wrongful repossession and illegal collection tactics.

Prior to joining legal services, Swearingen served as supervising attorney for the United Auto Workers Legal Services Plan. He has also served in the Office of the St. Louis Public Defender, the Office of the Missouri Attorney General and at Hulen, Hulen, Tatlow & Gump in Moberly, Mo.

Swearingen received his bachelor's degree in political science and sociology from the University of Missouri and his law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law. He lives in St. Louis.
