St. Louis attorneys honored, hired

The following attorneys from the St. Louis office of Husch & Eppenberger have been named among the "The Best Lawyers in America": Mark G. Arnold (appellate law, commercial litigation), Joseph P. Conran (commercial litigation), Dave L. Cornfeld (tax law, trusts and estates), Robert P. Edler (trusts and estates), Christopher E. Erblich (trusts and estates), Gary H. Feder (eminent domain and condemnation law, land use and zoning law, real estate law), Ruth Hays (employee benefits law), Kenneth R. Heineman (commercial litigation, mass tort litigation), Joseph G. Nassif (environmental law), Mary Anne O'Connell (corporate law, mergers and acquisitions law), Alan E. Popkin (antitrust law, bet-the-company litigation, commercial litigation, legal malpractice law), Maury B. Poscover (banking law, corporate law, equipment finance law), David G. Richardson (land use and zoning law), Arthur L. Smith (information technology law), Gregory R. Smith (eminent domain and condemnation law, land use and zoning law, real estate law), James V. Stepleton (corporate law), James R. Strong (trusts and estates).

Since 1983, "The Best Lawyers in America" list has been compiled annually by Woodward/White Inc., from a survey of thousands of attorneys across the United States.

Ellen E. Brooke has joined the civil defense practice group of Evans & Dixon as an associate. Brooke is licensed to practice in Missouri. She received her bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Brooke previously was employed by another St. Louis law firm. She currently is a member of the American Bar Association and the Missouri Bar Association.

R.G. Earnest has joined the international law firm Bryan Cave as an associate in the St. Louis office. Earnest joins the firm's tax advice and controversy client service group. In his previous position as a tax consultant, Earnest consulted on a range of federal and state income tax issues, with particular focus on partnership taxation, real estate transactions and financial accounting for uncertain income tax positions. Earnest graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2004. He received his masters of science in social anthropology in 2000 from Oxford University and his bachelor's degree in 1998 from Drury College.

Maury B. Poscover, an attorney at Husch & Eppenberger, has been appointed a member of the American Bar Association's Standing Committee for the Federal Judiciary. The Federal Judiciary Committee evaluates all federal judicial appointments. Appointment to the committee is based on a lawyer having high professional stature and integrity; members must also have varied professional experiences and backgrounds. As the Eighth Circuit representative to the Committee, Poscover is responsible for evaluating judicial appointments in Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota, along with assisting in other circuits as the need may arise.

Poscover was chairman of the American Bar Association's Business Law Section, as well as co-chairman of the section's Pro Bono Project. He served as a member of the ABA's Board of Governors (1999- 2002). Poscover is currently a member of the ABA's House of Delegates. He is a past president of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and a past chair of the group's Young Lawyers Section.

Poscover has been a speaker on commercial financial services issues, transactions, opinion letters, the relationships between inside and outside counsel and the business practice of law. He is listed in the 2008 edition of "Best Lawyers in America" in the areas of banking law, corporate law and equipment finance law. In April 2003, Poscover was honored as a distinguished alumnus by Washington University School of Law. The annual award recognizes alumni for their professional achievements and contributions to the community and legal profession. In 2005 he was honored by the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association with the Chair's Award, recognizing his contributions to the section.
