Obituary: Alice Roberts Butterfield

RIVERTON

- Alice Roberts Butterfield, 89, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 7, 2003, in South Jordan, UT, after a lingering illness.

She was born in Lehi, UT Oct 3, 1913, to David B. and Hazel Comer Roberts. Her marriage to A. Floyd Butterfield was performed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Sept 23, 1931.

Alice was a graduate of the University of Utah and a school teacher in the Jordan School District for 18 years before her retirement. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the Relief Society and Sunday School as a teacher. She also served in the Jordan River Temple as an ordinance worker for many years. She was so proud of her pioneer heritage and was an active participant in meetings of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers until this past year. She had a great love of learning and enjoyed traveling as an extension of the classroom. Reading, ceramics, oil painting, astronomy and geology were just a few of her interests, but her family was always her first priority.

She is survived by four children; Robert, Garry, Gayla (Randy) Brin-kerhoff, Verla (Richard) Harris; 24 grandchildren; 41 great- grandchil-dren; three great great-grandchil-dren; and three brothers, Earl Roberts, American Fork, Reed Roberts, St. George, UT, Virgil Roberts, Mesa, AZ. Alice was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Dr. LuPrele Williams, Paris, CA.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Legacy Care Center and to C.N.S. Hospice for their dedicated and caring employees who helped during these last few months.

Services will be Wed. Feb 12, 2003, 11 a.m. Riverton Stake Center, 1855 W. 13400 S. Friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. Broomhead Funeral Home, 12590 S. 2200 W, and Wed. one hour before services. Interment, Herriman Cemetery.
