Azria's models were pale with rosy cheeks and short hair. By putting them in dark tights and boots, the soft lines of his clothing became sharper. The slip dresses were smashing: A navy blue one- shoulder dress would be perfect for a late-night stroll on Penn's Landing.

He did lose cool points, however, when it came to diversity. There was none. Black, Hispanic and Asian models wouldn't have ruined the chicness of his vision. He really should have tried.
