Volunteers of America plans to auction off 100 cars April 15 to help pay for seven community service programs in Salt Lake, Davis, Tooele and Emery counties.

Those wishing to bid can preview the donated vehicles, which include most types of cars as well as a few boats, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, April 4.

The cars to be auctioned are expected to sell for between $100 and $5,000. No checks will be accepted.

The auction will begin at 11 a.m. on a large open lot at 4255 S. 300 West in Murray.

Volunteers of America is a national, nonprofit, spiritually based organization that serves more than 4,000 individuals and families in Utah annually. One of the programs to benefit from the auction is the Center for Women and Children, a 40-bed residential facility helping homeless and low-income substance-abusing women to detoxify and recover from drug or alcohol addiction while keeping their children with them.

For more information or to donate a vehicle, call 1-800-407-2600 or 801-355-2444.
