Icon racks up a legal victory in exercise-device litigation
0 Comments | Deseret News (Salt Lake City), May 23, 2003
The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington has sided with Logan-based Icon Health & Fitness in a legal dispute with Nautilus Group, based in Vancouver, Wash., and manufacturer of the Bowflex exercise device.
As a result, consumers can continue to buy the Crossbow by Weider home gym.
The court sided with Icon on three motions, denying Nautilus' request for an injunction against Icon in continuing to sell the Crossbow and ruling the Crossbow did not infringe Nautilus' patents.

The companies remain at odds, however. Last August, FreeMotion Fitness, an Icon subsidiary, filed suit against the Nautilus Group in U.S. District Court in Utah, alleging infringement of one of Icon's patents on FreeMotion's "cable cross" technology and other trade practices.
