Bridgestone plans to build auto-parts plant in China

TOKYO -- Japanese tiremaker Bridgestone Corp. said Monday it will build a $16 million plant in China to produce car parts.
The new plant will produce anti-vibration products and will be located in the city of Changzhou, about 100 miles northwest of Shanghai, Tokyo-based Bridgestone said in a prepared statement. Production will begin in late 2004, with monthly production capacity to reach 150,000 units in 2005.
