Mother was born on Decr 16, 1913, in Columbiana County, OH. She was the ninth of eleven children born to Walter Scott and Birdie Summers Whiteleather. She was raised on the family farm where she learned a strong work ethic.

Mom attended Kent State University in Ohio and was certified as a teacher after two years of study. She then taught school for ten years in Jackson Township. She returned to school at Ohio State University where she earned her Bachelors Degree. While at Ohio State University, she was introduced to Wilford Derby Laws, Jr. on a blind date. They were married in the Lutheran Church in New Franklin, OH on June 15, 1947.

Following their marriage, our parents moved to Dallas, TX where mother taught classes to the children who were patients at Scottish Rite Hospital. She later taught at St. Marks private school for boys. Mom joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1955. She and Dad were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on March 15, 1968.

In 1960, the family moved to Orem, Utah. Mother began teaching in the Alpine School District in 1961. She retired from teaching in 1983, to care for our father, who preceded her in death in 1986. Since our father's death, she has remained active in the LDS Church, Geneology Research, and in income tax counseling.

Mother is survived by her two children, Gordon Laws (Barbara) and Camille (Eric J.) Cannon, by 11 grandchildren and by five great grandchildren. Her parents and her brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
