"A soldier died today"

Delwyn Jonas loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather died peacefully at home after long illness on Dec. 10, 2003 with his loving wife of 57 years at his side.

Born Jan. 4, 1922 in Logan, UT to William Jonas and Karen Marie Thompson. Married June 6, 1946 to Myrna Bowman. Entered the army in 1941. Served in the pacific theatre during World War II where he received the bronze star for valor. Retired as a Major in the US Army in 1982. Delwyn worked for the U.S. Post Office for 35 years. Past President of Murray F. O. E. #1760.

Survived by wife Myrna, three children Kerry (Janet), Bonnie Jones, and Michael; eight grandchildren Jana (Eric) Francis, Justin (Audria) Jonas, Sara Jonas, Patrick Jones, Shawn Jones, Kristyn (Jordan) Ford, Penny (Camron) Cressall, Ryan Jonas; nine great- grandchildren Easton, Brandon Francis, Austin, Mykenzie, Taylor Ford, Bailey Shaw, Kayden Cressall, Palmer, Hannah Jonas. Preceded in death by a son, Greg Jonas and three brothers - Gaylen, Vaughn, Maynard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday December 13, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St., where friends may call Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
