University of Utah police Wednesday were looking for a man who assaulted a female security guard.
The security guard was making rounds outside the College of Nursing about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when she came across a transient- looking man, according to University police.
The security officer felt the man looked suspicious and was calling for backup on her radio when the man punched her. The guard was knocked to the ground and left semi-conscious as the assailant ran away, according to police. No weapons were used in the attack.
The officer was treated at University Medical Center for unspecified injuries and released a short time later, said university spokeswoman Coralie Alder.
