IBC Corp. ending alliance on Pepperidge Farm breads

Missouri-based Interstate Bakeries Corp. said Thursday that a 2- year-old alliance between IBC operating unit Interstate Brands West Corp. and Pepperidge Farm Inc. would end.

IBC said the alliance produced and distributed breads under the Pepperidge Farm branch in Utah, Arizona, Idaho and Montana, plus parts of North Dakota and Wyoming. That will discontinue Feb. 14, but the move will not affect distribution and service of Pepperidge Farm cookies, crackers, stuffing or croutons or IBC bread and cake products.

Jim Elsesser, IBC's chairman and chief executive officer, said IBC plans to introduce its own "super premium" bread line sometime during the current fiscal year.

IBC has 57 bread and cake bakeries nationwide. It bakes and distributes products under brand names including Wonder, Hostess, Dolly Madison, Merita and Drake's.
