-- TWO ONE-ACT PLAYS, "Breast Men" and "Affections of an Alleycat," will be staged Thursday through Feb. 21 by the Mark Studio's TAU theater company, 3188 S. 400 East.

The first, directed by Charles Halford, features Chrit Campbell, J.C. Cunningham and Halford in an adult comedy exploring the power of love, attraction and relationships. The second, directed by Sila Agavale, features Tara Norton-Stephens (alternating with Anne Carole) and Ryan Lucas in a one-act play about a man scheming to attract one woman's affections.

Tickets are $7.50 (484-5662 or www.themarkstudio.com).

-- "THE ART OF THEATRE," a one-man show highlighting memories of the make-believe world of Broadway stage and movie musicals, will be performed by Rhett Thomas on Valentine's weekend in the Bumbleberry Playhouse, Springdale. Thomas, whose "Twist the Night Away" brought Branson-style entertainment to Springdale this past summer, is in the process of turning the playhouse from a seasonal venue to a year- round theater.

The cabaret-style revue will spotlight shows ranging from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" to "Hans Christian Andersen."

Jannet Brown is Thomas' accompanist.

Season tickets, priced at $30, will include these two shows, plus Bumbleberry's "Christmas Spectacular." These tickets will be available only prior to Friday. ("Twist the Night Away" will play April 1-Oct. 23.)

Performances of "The Art of Theatre" will be 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Single tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children, 6- 14 years of age (435-772-3611 or toll-free 866-478-4854).

-- "EXPERIMENTS IN INK 5," a festival of new short plays -- all conceived, produced and directed by students -- will have five performances Thursday through Feb. 15 in the Lab Theatre, Studio 115 of the U. Performing Arts Building.

The six one-act plays being showcased this year are:

-- Nate Haldeman's "Superficial 'How-Are-Yous,' Permanent Goodbyes," an expressionistic existential play about a man with only 30 minutes left to live.

-- Jamie Wilcox's "When I'm With You," about the termination of a passionate relationship.

-- Jeffrey Gold's "Dedekind," an absurdest piece revolving around two turn-of-the-century gentlemen.

-- Karen Strang's "You Don't Have to Talk About It," a romantic comedy.

-- Anita Holland's "Plunge," a stark, coming-of-age tragi-comedy.

-- Josh Hansen's "Parallels," a "Durang-esque" comedy about a highly dysfunctional family.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 7 p.m. on Feb. 15, with one matinee at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students (581-7100 or 355-2787).

-- "FLIGHT," a multimedia "living-newspaper" journey through the lives and times of Leonardo da Vinci, Daedalus, Icarus, the Wright Brothers, Charles Lindbergh and others, opens Wednesday in Brigham Young University's Nelke Experimental Theatre, where it continues through Feb. 21. "Flight" is geared to audiences of all ages and is co-directed by Amy Jensen and Dean Duncan.

Discount previews ($5 tickets) are Wednesday and Thursday. Regular performances begin on Friday and continue at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays- Saturdays, with matinees at 2 p.m. on Feb. 14 and 21. Tickets are $12 for the general public or $9 for BYU staff/faculty or students with valid ID. (378-4322).
