Fern, lovingly known by all as Aunt Fern, was a talented pianist and organist who blessed the lives of her family and the congregations in which she served. Fern learned to play the piano by ear and continued to play the organ at the Jordan River Temple into her mid-eighties. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, she held many music related callings as well as serving for over 25 years in the Primary organization. In the Primary all were loved and not even the most timid fearful, unruly or crying toddler could be able to withstand the power of her loving outstretched arms.
Fern, an intelligent, beautiful and talented woman, delighted others with her loving spirit, her energy and her famous chocolate cake. She was an example to all. She ran the family store, Holt's Service in South Jordan, for over 35 years. She always had a kind word and sweet smile for everyone she met.
She is survived by her son, Tracy Kent Holt and his wife Carol, of South Jordan; and step-children, Rela Mayes of Murray; Jean Holt Van Dyke of Riverton; Golden Ray Holt and his wife Shirley of Riverton; Jerry B. Holt and his wife Lola of Riverton; and Jessie Holt Warner of Riverton, Utah; five grandchildren, Tracy Kay Holt and his wife Christy, Carrie Ann Vader and her husband Mark, Byran Lamoyne Holt and his wife Laura, Bryce Kent Holt, and Patrece Carol Holt; six great-grandchildren, Brady, Mikayla, Jaden, Abigal, Dylan and Emma. Fern was preceded in death by husband Golden; parents; siblings and stepdaughters, Lois Servella Holt and Thelma Holt Dalrymple.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Parkway 3rd Ward Chapel, 3200 West 10200 South. Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, and Tuesday 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the South Jordan City Cemetery.
