2/17/1928 ~ 8/27/2004

Roy DePalmo, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away suddenly and peacefully August 27, 2004, in West Jordan, Utah.

Roy was born to Gus and Millie DePalmo in Montello, Nevada February 17, 1928. He spent his early childhood years playing in the desert mining camps of northern Nevada, and later moved to a farm in Rupert, Idaho. He played basketball and was on the track team in high school, and he continued his love for sports in college. He attended the University of Idaho on an athletic scholarship and graduated in 1946. He joined the Air Force in 1951 and served his country in Korea and Japan during the Korean Conflict. Roy married Raye Hawkes in Elko, Nevada May 31, 1957. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Roy had a keen wit about him and an artful sense of humor. He loved fishing and golf, but mostly golf. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed playing with his wonderful grandchildren. He served in many callings in the LDS Church and also worked at the Jordan River Temple for many years. He served his Father in Heaven and his fellow man faithfully his entire life. He always had a smile and will be remembered as a gentle and pleasant husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Few people have had such an influence and impact on family, both living and dead, as Roy did. He was blessed with dear friends who enriched his life. His example, generosity, and dedication will be missed, but will not be forgotten.

Roy is survived by his wife, Raye; one brother, Charles (Phyllis) Campbell, CA; and two daughters, Diane Evans (Doug), and Linda Hansen (David) of Oakley, Utah. Roy is also survived by six grandchildren, Rachael Evans (serving an LDS Mission in Los Angeles, CA), Jared Evans (serving an LDS Mission in Cleveland, Ohio), Amanda Evans, Zachary Evans, Erika Hansen, and Alayna Hansen. His sister, Virginia Pollard; and granddaughter, Marisa Hansen, preceded Roy in death.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at the Willow Grove Ward, 8539 S. 2200 West. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Chapel, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City and Wednesday morning from 11 a.m.-12 noon at the church.
