A variety of Halloween activities available

-- Big Foot Corn Maze, through Nov. 1, 362 N. 2000 West, Pleasant Grove (just south of State Street). A six-acre maze for families and older children. A smaller corn maze for children, hayrides, a pumpkin patch and more. Ticket prices vary. Open 4-11 p.m. Monday-Friday; 2- 11 p.m. Saturdays. Visit www.bigfootcornmaze.com.

-- Haunted Forest, through Nov. 1. Located off I-15 exit 279, American Fork. Journey through five acres of dungeons, swamps and terrors. Tickets are $7 for children, $12 for adults. Visit www.hauntedutah.com.

-- The Haunted Hospital, through Oct. 30. 206 E. State, Lehi, at the old Lehi Hospital. The Haunted Hospital proceeds will help with restoration efforts for the building, built in 1891. Cost is $7. Haunted Hospital hours are Monday-Thursday from 6-10 p.m.; Friday- Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

-- Hee Haws Corn Maze, Haunted Barnyard and Pumpkin Patch, through Oct. 30, 700 S. 45OO West, Pleasant Grove. The corn maze features the faces of President Bush and John Kerry. The Haunted Barnyard is a 30- minute hayride through a century-old barnyard. Open 4-10 p.m. Monday- Thursday, 4-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. -- Nightmare Mansion, through Nov. 1, 300 N. 2000 West, Pleasant Grove. Visitors explore the legendary paths of Nightmare Mansion and the surrounding woods. Tickets are $10. Visit www.nightmaremansion.com.

-- Haunted Canyon Train, Oct. 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30. Trains depart Vivian Park to explore the Haunted Provo Canyon at 7 and 8 p.m. Thursdays with additional trip at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $12 adults, $6 children and are available by calling the Heber Valley Railroad, 435-654-5601. Reservations are needed.

-- Spooky Tales, Oct. 25 and 27. The third annual Spooky Tales storytelling festival at Thanksgiving Point's Children's Discovery Gardens from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children. Call 768-6439 for more information.

-- Barnyard Boo, at Thanksgiving Point's Farm Country. Bring the family and enjoy fun activities such as Halloween crafts and games. Decorate a cookie or go on a haunted hayride with the Headless Horseman. Participate in the Costume Contest and more. Mondays and Saturdays Oct. 23, 25 and 30 Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m. UEA weekend Oct. 28, 29 and 30 from noon to 8 p.m. $5 per person or $20 per family (up to six people).

-- Halloween Adventure Cruise, through Oct. 31. More than 100 pumpkins reflect off the water on this riverboat ride on the lower Provo River. The trip includes scary stories, songs, pirate attacks and candy. The round trip ride takes 25 minutes, with departures every half-hour. Boarding locations at CLAS Ropes Course, 3606 W. Center, Provo. Tickets are $15 per family or $5 per person. Weekdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30-10:30 p.m. Call 373-8897 for more information.

-- Museum Super Saturdays at Thanksgiving Point. Oct. 23, and 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children's holiday activities include face painting, making crafts, pumpkin painting and having an old- fashioned Halloween party. Call 766-5013 for more information. These activities will be free with admission ticket to the exhibit hall or mammoth screen theater.

-- Halloween at South Ridge Farms. Through Oct. 29 at 300 W. 900 South, Santaquin (take exit 245 then turn north on frontage road one mile). Monday-Friday from 3:30-7 p.m.; Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hayrides leave every 15 minutes to the pumpkin patch. $2 per person, $1 per child (10 years and under).

-- American Fork Costumed 5K Run, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. The city cemetery will be alive with ghosts and goblins during this 13th annual event, which will twist and turn around neighborhoods and family plots. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, the event is expected to host more than 280 entries. Costumes are optional, but prizes will be awarded for those dressed up. The parade starts at the American Fork Fitness Center, 454 N. Center, with a 5:30 p.m. registration. Costume judging will be at 6:30 p.m. Registration is $20. Proceeds will benefit the Chamber of Commerce with 10 percent going to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

-- Halloween Festival in downtown Payson, Oct. 30. Pumpkin carving and costume contests, trick-or-treating and door prizes. Call 465- 5200.

-- Trick-or-treat in downtown Provo, Oct. 30. Children can trick- or-treat to merchants along Center Street and University Avenue from 3-6 p.m. Free carnival games and activities. Call 377-5700 for more information.

-- Orem Fitness Center 9th Annual Costume Contest, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. Registration begins at 5:40 p.m. The contest is free. Local business sponsors have supplied a variety of gift certificates, free coupons, candy and other prizes. Each participant will receive a certificate with the first 100 participants receiving a Halloween bag full of prizes including a family admission pass to the Orem Fitness Center. Awards will be given to the scariest, funniest and cutest costumes for groups ages 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Call 229-7154 for more information.
