Rock on ...

Decisions, decisions

Ah, the things you have to worry about when you're in the big show.

Under a Monday headline that said, "Playing BCS Pick 'Em," ESPN.com said: "The latest BCS standings are out -- and they're more complicated than Star Jones' gift registry. Just how do you pick between USC, Oklahoma and Auburn if all are unbeaten?"

Gee, I don't know.

But I'll bet Urban Meyer does.

Next question

Eleven weeks ago, Meyer threatened to ban player interviews if the media didn't quit asking his team if it could go undefeated.

Now that the Utes are 10-0 and knocking on the BCS door, he's telling reporters to go ahead -- ask away.

Thanks, coach, but that's no fun anymore.

What we really want to know is whether your kids think they can beat Boston College in the Fiesta Bowl.

Full house

For anyone looking for proof the Utes have arrived, consider this: ESPN's "College Game Day" program will originate from the University of Utah campus this weekend.

Meyer has promised 20,000 rabid fans will be in attendance.

Wow.

It wasn't that long ago that Utah's coaches couldn't promise 20,000 at the games.

Terminated

If you can't be famous for your game, be famous for your name.

ESPN.com compiled a list of college athletes with, well, interesting names.

For instance, there's Franco Harris (Boise State), Reggie Jackson (Murray State), Bobby Brown (Cal-Fullerton) and Ron Howard (Valparaiso).

My personal favorite: East Carolina's Charles Bronson.

But what I'm really waiting for is an athlete named Arnold Schwarzenegger.

He could dunk in someone's face, trot back on defense and shout, "I'll be back!"

Past master

Don't look now, but -- oh, go ahead and look.

The Worm is in the house.

Sort of.

Seven-time NBA rebounding champ Dennis Rodman has signed on with the Orange County Crush of the minor league American Basketball Association.

Wait a minute. The man's 43.

Didn't he play in the original ABA?

Going for gold

New York City launched its bid for the 2012 Olympics at a ceremony on the Brooklyn Bridge last week.

The Big Apple is sending a 600-page bid to the IOC.

Six-hundred pages?

Is reading that an Olympic sport, too?

B-grade films

Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher wrote in last week's Sports Illustrated about his daughter, his sleep patterns and -- what else? -- his relationship with Paris Hilton.

"I don't know what the big deal was," he wrote. "I was single, and we hung out for a while. I didn't even see the (sex) video, man. I should've watched it; I heard it was pretty good."

Compared to what -- watching the Bears?

Viewer warning

There's actually debate as to which video is more offensive -- Hilton's sex tape or the Bears' 1985 Super Bowl Shuffle.
