Harvard law professor Charles Ogletree Jr. will deliver a free public lecture Saturday at the Salt Lake Public Library auditorium, 210 E. 400 South.

The event will commemorate the founding of the Salt Lake branch of the NAACP on Feb. 12, 1919.

There will be a 1:30 p.m. lecture for youths and a 2 p.m. lecture for the general public. Ogletree will also sign copies of his book, "All Deliberate Speed: Reflections of the First Half-Century of Brown v. Board of Education."

"We are honored to have a person of Professor Ogletree's stature speak in Utah," said Jeanetta Williams, president of the Salt Lake branch of the NAACP.

Ogletree, the Harvard Law School Jesse Climenko Professor of Law and vice dean for clinical programs, is a prominent legal theorist. In April 2004, he was appointed director of Harvard Law School's new Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice.
