Multilevel system has rewards

Deseret News (Salt Lake City),  Jun 1, 2005

Jon Taylor's diatribe in the May 27 "My View" was a first-class hatchet job. It reeks of sour grapes. It represents a widely held view of multilevel marketing that seeks to bestow victim status on everyone who signs on with a multilevel company and who fails to make the big bucks. I have been involved with no less than six multilevel companies over the past 30 years. I have never made the big bucks, and I am not a victim. I have, for the most part, been a "wholesale customer," able to use a variety of excellent products at a reasonable price. I have had the privilege of associating with a host of truly outstanding people, many of whom were making the big bucks.

The reason most of us never reach the big time is that we treat the business as "spare time" rather than "part time." It is a hard business, but for those who do it right, the rewards are there.

No doubt there have been unscrupulous MLM companies. The same thing can be said for any other type of business in town. It is the buyer's responsibility to know what he or she is getting into. Caveat emptor -- let the buyer beware.
