Public input sought on Capitol Reef plan
Deseret News (Salt Lake City), Jun 1, 2005
Capitol Reef National Park is accepting public comment review on a draft environmental impact statement on its plan to modify portions of the Burr Trail road inside the park.
Three of the four alternatives would stabilize parts of the road with gravel and geotextile fabric. Other modifications include improving drainage at wash basins, modifying the road to allow two- way traffic at an overhanging rock and providing slope projection where the trail travels near a wash basin.
The fourth alternative would leave the trail untouched.
The draft impact statement can be examined at parkplanning.nps.gov.
Comments will be accepted until July 19, 2005. Written comments may be given online at the above Web site.
