Santaquin to eye new subdivision
Deseret News (Salt Lake City), Jun 1, 2005
SANTAQUIN -- A proposed 14-acre hillside subdivision with more than 30 homes will come before the City Council tonight for a preliminary approval.
The project is going forward despite objections from neighbors, City Manager Stephan Chatwin said. It meets all legal obligations and city ordinances, he said.
However, the city is requiring lots of at least 15,000 square feet and exteriors of brick or stucco, which could protect existing property values. Residents also wanted more access in and out of the east bench subdivision but objected to more growth. Without the additional growth the developer won't be putting in more access, Chatwin said. Fire officials aren't as concerned, he added, because they have access over back roads if needed.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in City Hall, 45 W. 100 South.
