LAYTON -- A grandmother has been named to the Layton Police Department's "Most Wanted" list.
Police said Martha Gomez, 42, severely burned her grandson in January 2005. The child was rushed to the hospital with serious burns on his legs and buttocks, detectives said.
"The investigation revealed that Gomez, who is his grandmother, had done that to him intentionally," Layton Police Sgt. James Petre said.
Under questioning, police said, Gomez denied immersing the child in scalding bathtub water. She was charged with second-degree felony child abuse. The Layton Police Department said on its Web site that she is believed to have fled to Mexico.
