STARS

Monday

--Jesse Litsch, Blue Jays, pitched five-hit ball for 7 2-3 innings without a walk, leading Toronto to a 4-1 victory over the New York Yankees.

--Prince Fielder, Brewers, hit his NL-leading 48th home run and Milwaukee moved within three games of first place, beating St. Louis 13-5.

--Omar Vizquel, Giants, drove in four runs and San Francisco beat San Diego 9-4.

--Nick Markakis, Orioles, hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning to lead Baltimore to a 3-2 win over Kansas City.

OUT

Padres left fielder Milton Bradley will miss the rest of the season after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a blowup with an umpire. Bradley, who helped spark the wild card-leading Padres during the season's second half, was ejected from Sunday's game by first base umpire Mike Winters, then hurt his knee during a bizarre scene when manager Bud Black spun him to the ground to keep him from going after the ump in the eighth inning of a 7-3 loss to Colorado.

SWEPT

Baltimore completed a season sweep of the Kansas City Royals with a 3-2 victory Monday night. The Orioles went 7-0 against Kansas City. It's only the sixth time in club history that Baltimore swept a season series from an AL opponent.

EJECTED

Brewers manager Ned Yost was ejected for the second consecutive day during Milwaukee's 13-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night. Plate umpire Phil Cuzzi tossed Yost in the top of the seventh, after Yost once again left the dugout to argue after Cuzzi called Rick Ankiel safe at home on a two-run single by Ryan Ludwick that made the score 12-5.

STREAKS

Moises Alou extended his club-record hitting streak to 28 games with a sixth-inning double for New York, which lost to Washington 13- 4 on Monday night.

Today's birthday: Brian Shouse, 39.
