RSL TRADE: Real Salt Lake sent enigmatic Atiba Harris to Chivas USA on Wednesday in exchange for a third-round pick in the upcoming 2008 MLS SuperDraft.

RSL now owns four of the top 37 picks (3rd, 14th, 17th and 37th) in the draft, which is set for Jan. 18 in Baltimore as part of the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of American Convention.

OSBORNE STAYING: At Lincoln, Neb., Tom Osborne won't be leaving Nebraska anytime soon.

The Cornhuskers' former coach will stay on as Nebraska's athletic director for the next 2 1/2 years, dropping the interim tag he had since returning two months ago to replace the fired Steve Pederson.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman said Wednesday the 70-year-old Osborne will be the school's AD until June 30, 2010.

DUELING HOME UNIFORMS: Ohio State and LSU will both wear their preferred home uniforms when they square off on Jan. 7 in the BCS national championship game.

As the higher-ranked team in the game at the Louisiana Superdome, No. 1 Ohio State (11-1) got first choice in selecting its jersey color. The Buckeyes opted for their usual home color of scarlet. They will wear gray pants.

THOMAS GETS PINK SLIP: At New York, New York Knicks fans angry over the team's losing streak rallied outside Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, holding aloft a giant pink slip and calling on management to fire coach Isiah Thomas.

Chanting "Fire Isiah! He's got to go! Good-bye!" two dozen irate fans signed the 8-by-4-foot pink placard urging Garden chief executive James Dolan to dump the coach.

FRENCH BAN LANDIS: At Paris, American cyclist Floyd Landis cannot compete in France until 2009 even if he has his two-year doping ban lifted by the sport's highest court.

The French Anti-Doping Agency said Wednesday it had imposed its own ban against Landis, preventing him from riding in France until Jan. 31, 2009 -- ruling him out of next year's Tour de France.

Topic: Lone Peak's coach resigns - "You did a great job coaching at LPHS. They will miss you. No one will coach as well as you. Keep your head high." - Thanks!

Topic: Jazz practice time - "PRACTICE. PRACTICE, we're talkin' about "PRACTICE." If that's the only reason the Jazz are in this horrible slump, then I'm not sure what I've been watching on television the past month or so . . . if you can practice "HEART, DESIRE AND GUTS," then I guess practice really "IS" the answer . . . however, it's been my experience over the years that no amount of practice time will instill these traits in the Jazz. - o force

Topic: Olson doubtful for bowl game - "Now Olson can't participate in a meaningless sweepstakes game that people are calling a "bowl" game. Doesn't everyone else realize the season is over?" - Pity

Topic: Navy's Niumatalolo - "Twenty years ago I met Kenny. I knew then that he would do great things in his life. All types of people were drawn to him and would do anything he asked. A born leader who will be a great head coach. Congrats Kenny!" - rich

GROUND GAME: The first time BYU and UCLA met this year, the Cougars' running game was a shadow of what it is today. How will the ground attack play into the Cougars' game plan with the Bruins this time around?
