NORAD, Qwest plan Santa tracking

0 Comments | Deseret News (Salt Lake City), Dec 22, 2007

It's almost Christmas. So, never mind for a while that throughout the year the North American Aerospace Defense Command in Colorado helps protect the country's skies.

Better known as NORAD, workers at its Peterson Air Force Base location will employ their radar, satellites, jetfighters and, yes, "Santa cams" to track the jolly fat guy's movements. Qwest is assisting with telecommunication technologies necessary to keep everyone informed.

Starting at 2 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, children and big kids/adults can call 1-877-HI-NORAD to keep tabs on where Santa is at on his annual rounds in and out of living rooms around the world. Qwest and NORAD's telephonic service to the masses ends at 2 a.m. on Christmas Day, presumably after St. Nick's work is complete.
