Oil execs' explanation bogus

0 Comments | Deseret News (Salt Lake City), Apr 8, 2008

Donald Allen hit the nail on the head regarding the price of diesel fuel (Readers' Forum, April 7). Yet our congressmen never bring up this issue when they go through their annual dog-and-pony show of calling the oil executives before Congress to question them about high fuel prices.

Diesel requires less refining and none of the additives that gasoline does. Yet after decades of being priced less than gasoline, it is now 25 percent more than gasoline for no reason other than corporate greed. Yet our esteemed congressmen constantly ignore this fact and buy into the oil companies' bogus explanation of supply and demand.

It's no wonder the approval rating of Congress is less than the oil companies' CEOs.
