Deseret News (Salt Lake City),  May 7, 2008  by Compiled by Valerie Phillips Deseret News

Dooners Fresh Seasoned Grille opened Monday at 2778 W. 12600 South, Riverton. Today there is a 20 percent discount for government employees, and senior bingo from 2-5 p.m.

Carmen Rasmusen, formerly on "American Idol," will be there Friday from 6-9 p.m. to sign autographs and copies of her book. There will be prize drawings and live entertainment. Dooners is a quick-serve restaurant with three food concepts: the European-style doener kebab made from seasoned rotisserie meats; 24 flavors of gelato ice cream; and a Southwestern grill featuring smothered burritos, sweet pulled pork tacos and nachos (www.Doonersgrille.com).

Rumbi Island Grill introduced Cabo Fish Tacos to its Utah menu last week. The tacos are made with grilled, blackened ono and served with jalapeno ranch dressing, fruit salsa and Asian coleslaw. During a three-month testing period at four Rumbi restaurants, the Cabo Fish Tacos became a popular menu item. In addition, the Utah-based chain was recently honored by the Whole Grains Council for serving whole grains on its daily menu (www.rumbi.com).

Wendy's is serving a new line of preservative-free Marzetti salad dressings beginning this month. A company press release said the sodium level in each dressing has been reduced by 10 percent to 15 percent.

Del Taco introduced a new hot sauce last week to its quick-serve restaurant chain. The company says that Del Inferno is almost three times hotter than its competitors. To put it to the test, the company is offering a free case of the new hot sauce to fire stations in the communities that have Del Taco outlets. Firefighters can e-mail a request for the sauce to publicrelations@deltaco.com.

Mother's Day dining will be offered by the following restaurants:
