Columnist a joy to read

Deseret News (Salt Lake City),  May 14, 2008

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to thank Jerry Johnston for the great joy I always get from reading his column. "A mother's feelings for prodigal son" (May 10) was no exception; his words brought tears to my eyes with his ability to find a connection not easily seen in this well-known parable.

His extraordinary sensitivity and depth of perception are a rare gift. Thank you, Deseret News, for having such a gifted writer among your staff.
