NEW YORK (AP) -- The Breeders' Cup will air nine hours of live coverage this year, including 2 1/2 hours on ABC for the first time.

The 25th annual event, to be held Oct. 24-25 at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif., will feature 14 races over two days, with record purse money of $25.5 million. Friday's five races featuring female horses will air on ESPN2.

Saturday's races will air for 2 1/2 hours on ABC before switching to ESPN from 3:30-7 p.m. EST. The ABC-ESPN combination marks the first network and cable airing of horse racing's richest day in the United States.
