Utah -- taxes elevated

Deseret News (Salt Lake City),  Jul 17, 2008

I can tell a new state tax year has begun. The flat tax rules. I recently discovered this the hard way. With no change in income, the state flat-tax deduction from my pay is now $5 a paycheck more. Over a total of 26 paychecks, that will make $130 more I will be paying in state taxes this year. I make less than $40,000 a year. Gives a whole new meaning to "life elevated." Thanks, Gov. Huntsman.
